Every summer, the Chamonix valley becomes one of the nerve centers of world climbing. From July 10 to 12, 2026, the Climbing World Cup makes its grand return to the Mont-Blanc square for three days of spectacular competition bringing together the best international specialists in speed and difficulties. Between nighttime finals, free activities, and an exceptional panorama facing the Mont-Blanc massif, the event establishes itself as one of the major sports highlights of the summer in Haute-Savoie.
A legendary stage of the international circuit
For several decades, Chamonix has hosted one of the most emblematic stages of the World Cup organized under the aegis of the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing). The reputation of the Chamonix stage goes far beyond French borders thanks to a unique setting: the competition walls are installed right in the heart of the city, with the Mont-Blanc massif as a backdrop.
Every year, the biggest stars of world climbing come to defend their chances in front of several tens of thousands of spectators. The atmosphere of the evening finals is regularly considered one of the most impressive on the international calendar.
The program of the 2026 Climbing World Cup
For three days, the public will be able to attend a succession of qualifications, semi-finals, and finals free of charge.

Two of the most spectacular disciplines
The Chamonix World Cup spotlights two Olympic disciplines.
Speed
Two climbers start simultaneously on a standardized 15-meter wall. The first to reach the top wins the duel. The world’s best currently ascend in less than five seconds.
Difficulty
Here, the goal is to go as high as possible on a particularly demanding route. Competitors do not know the route in advance and must manage both their endurance, technique, and route reading. The slightest mistake can be eliminatory.
A true celebration of climbing
Beyond the competition, the World Cup is also a major popular event.
Visitors will be able to enjoy:
- climbing initiation zones open to the public;
- activities accessible to the whole family;
- partner village;
- outdoor film screenings;
- numerous demonstrations throughout the weekend.
The event is designed to appeal both to enthusiasts and to curious visitors discovering this spectacular sport.
