From July 25 to 30, 2026, Grand-Bornand becomes the must-attend event for drawing enthusiasts with the fifth edition of the Mountain Sketch Meetings. For six days, established artists, urban sketchers, beginners, and families are invited to take out their sketchbooks to capture the Alpine landscapes in a friendly atmosphere.
Six days to draw the mountain differently
After several successful editions, the Mountain Sketch Meetings – Carnets d’Alpage return to Grand-Bornand for a fifth edition full of discoveries and exchanges. Held from July 25 to 30, 2026, the event highlights on-site drawing in an exceptional natural setting, between chalets, alpine pastures, and the peaks of the Aravis.
Open to all levels, the event is aimed both at experienced draughtsmen and curious participants wishing to try sketching in the great outdoors.
A varied program for all audiences
Throughout the week, participants can take part in many activities:
- drawing workshops lasting 3 or 6 hours led by professional artists;
- sketchcrawls (“We all draw together”) open to everyone;
- conferences and demonstrations;
- exhibitions and moments of exchange between enthusiasts;
- workshops specially designed for children and families.
Evenings will also allow extending the meetings around improvised exhibitions, presentations of the day’s works, and convivial moments in the heart of the village.
International artists invited
This fifth edition will bring together the three founders and organizers of the event:
- Pierre Amoudry;
- Vincent Desplanche;
- Luc Perillat.
They will be accompanied this year by several international artists, including Maru Godas (Spain), Theres Rüstchi (Switzerland), and Laurent Willenegger (Switzerland), who will share their techniques and approach to outdoor drawing through workshops and demonstrations.
An event that combines art and mountain heritage
Beyond learning to draw, Carnets d’Alpage invites you to take a different look at the landscapes of the Aravis massif. Traditional chalets, herds, forests, torrents, or Alpine panoramas become as many sources of inspiration to fill sketchbooks throughout the walks.
Grand-Bornand thus offers a true open-air studio where each outing is an opportunity to observe, slow down, and capture the unique atmosphere of the mountain.
