Can a simple wooden ball captivate an entire family for nearly an hour? At Mont-Saxonnex, the answer is clearly yes. With “Roule ma Boule“, children run, laugh, and watch their marble roll down a giant course dotted with obstacles, while adults quickly get caught up in the game. An original, playful, and accessible activity that is definitely worth the detour during a getaway in Haute-Savoie.
A concept as simple as it is addictive
No screen, no ride, no latest technology. Here, everything relies on a surprisingly effective idea: rolling a wooden ball on a course specially designed to make it go through a series of tunnels, turns, footbridges, and other playful modules.
From the first meters, children chase after it, encourage their marble through the most technical passages, and marvel as it disappears into a tunnel before reappearing a little further on. Very quickly, parents join them in the game… and rounds follow one after another.
A giant course in the heart of the mountains
Set up in the hamlet of Morsullaz, on the heights of Mont-Saxonnex, the course stretches over more than 100 meters in a natural environment offering a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.
Throughout the circuit, several installations allow for varied pleasures:
- wooden tunnels;
- footbridges and turns;
- skill games;
- interactive modules;
- multiple trajectories to race several balls against each other.
The whole is designed so that everyone progresses at their own pace and can start over as many times as they wish.
An ideal outing for families
One of the great strengths of Roule ma Boule is to bring together all generations. The youngest enjoy following their marble from one workshop to another, while the older ones quickly seek the perfect trajectory or try to beat their relatives in impromptu races.
The course requires no special physical condition and is an excellent outing idea to fill half a day during vacations or a weekend in the mountains.
An affordable activity
Access to the site is free. You just need to purchase a 48 mm wooden ball, sold for 5 €.
It can be bought directly on site via a vending machine (contactless card payment), but also at the offices of the Cluses Arve & Mountains Tourist Office or at several partner shops.
Good news: the ball belongs to you and can be reused during your future visits.
Something to extend the outing
The course usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes, but many families stay longer to do several runs.
Picnic tables, benches, and toilets are available nearby. The inn located just opposite (l’Auberge de la Pointe du Midi) also offers a chance to take a gourmet break after the activity. Don’t hesitate to try the potato fritters, a real treat!
The area is also an excellent starting point to discover the riches of Mont-Saxonnex, notably lac Bénit, one of the most beautiful family hikes in Haute-Savoie.
