Editorial Policy

Who are we?

Tourisme Haute-Savoie is an independent magazine dedicated to tourism in Haute-Savoie, created in 2009. This site is not affiliated with the Haute-Savoie Departmental Tourism Committee nor with any official institution.

My name is Patrick Vieillefond. I have been living in Haute-Savoie for over 20 years, passionate about mountains, hiking, paragliding, and Alpine gastronomy.

I founded this site to share field knowledge that official sources cannot always offer: the trails I regularly use, the local producers I know, the resorts I have skied dozens of times, the refuges where I have eaten and slept.

This site was originally a personal project, which I gradually transformed over time into a professional site that I manage with my Web agency. I am the main author of all the content published here.

With my Web agency, we also publish several other tourist sites:

Our editorial line

Tourisme Haute-Savoie covers four main areas:

  • Mountain sports and leisure : hiking, alpine skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, paragliding, trail running
  • Destinations : lakes, waterfalls, mountain ranges, towns and villages of Haute-Savoie
  • Savoyard gastronomy : recipes, regional products, good addresses
  • Agenda and news : events, activities, seasonal good deals

We target an audience of travelers and residents who wish to discover or better know Haute-Savoie, with a practical and personal angle rather than an institutional one.

Our sources

The information published on this site comes from several types of sources, which we specify here for the sake of transparency:

Direct experience : most in-depth articles (hiking guides, resort descriptions, gastronomic recommendations) are based on my personal field experience, regularly verified and updated.

Official local sources : for factual data, opening hours, prices, access, skiing conditions, event calendars, we rely on local tourist offices, official resort websites, and municipal or departmental services. These sources are referenced in the articles when relevant.

Press and specialized media : for news, we may reuse and cite information from regional press (Le Dauphiné Libéré, Le Messager) or recognized outdoor media.

Our use of artificial intelligence

We occasionally use artificial intelligence (AI) tools as an aid to writing or formatting. Here is exactly how and in which cases:

AI can help us : rephrase a passage to make it clearer, structure the outline of a long article, correct syntax, or propose a first draft on a subject which I then complete and validate.

AI never replaces : my editorial judgment, my field knowledge, verification of practical information (prices, opening hours, access conditions), nor personal recommendations based on my lived experiences.

Our commitment : any content published on this site, whether assisted by AI or not, is reviewed, checked and validated by me before publication. I do not accept any factual information that I am not able to confirm by an official source or by my own experience.

When an article has been significantly assisted by an AI tool, we indicate it at the bottom of the article with the mention: “This article was written with the assistance of an AI tool and reviewed by Patrick Vieillefond.”

Editorial independence and commercial links

This site is funded by advertising and affiliation. Here is what that concretely means for you:

Google AdSense : ads may appear on certain pages of the site. They are automatically managed by Google and do not influence our editorial content in any way.

AWIN / Booking.com affiliate links : some links to accommodations or stays are affiliate links. If you make a booking via one of these links, we receive a commission from the provider, at no extra cost to you.

GetYourGuide and Sports Découverte widgets: some pages integrate an activity booking widget provided by GetYourGuide and/or Sports Découverte. We receive a commission on bookings made through these widgets.

Our commitment : no brand, resort, accommodation, or provider pays us to appear in our editorial content. Our recommendations reflect only our personal opinion and field experience. The fact that a provider is listed in our directory or in an article does not mean they are a commercial partner.

Updates and corrections

Practical information (prices, opening hours, access conditions) evolves. We do our best to keep articles up to date, especially before each summer and winter season.

The date of the last update is indicated at the bottom of each article. If you notice expired or incorrect information, we invite you to report it by email: we correct factual errors within 48 hours.
