Want to visit the city of Annecy and its region?

The website Annecy Tourisme offers holidaymakers the chance to discover the little Venice of the Alps.

A city of history and heritage, Annecy is rich in its past and many monuments (religious buildings, castles, and fortresses) recount the life of the Pays de Savoie. Major events punctuate the year, and the Annecy Lake Festival, a major pyrotechnic show in Europe, is the best example. The Venetian carnival, the International Animation Film Festival, and the return of the Alpages are also highly popular.

A welcoming city, with quality services related to seasonal accommodation including numerous hotels, furnished apartments, campsites, and conference centers available in the towns and villages along the lake.

For leisure, Annecy competes with the major regional cities of the Alpine arc and is not lacking in leisure activities all year round:

  • Gastronomic tours and its great chefs (Marc Veyrat), culinary traditions, and regional products (reblochon, tartiflette…)
  • Water sports and leisure on Lake Annecy and in white water: water skiing and wakeboarding, sailing, diving, canyoning, rafting, or simply swimming and sunbathing…
  • Winter sliding on the Haute-Savoie massifs: skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, snowshoeing
  • Mountain activities: hiking, mountain biking, alpine flora and fauna observation
  • Discovering typical places in Haute-Savoie: La Clusaz, Chamonix, Megève, Yvoire…
  • Aerial sports: a world-renowned spot for paragliding (with numerous discovery courses).

The proximity of large cities (Lyon, Grenoble, Geneva) and good access to major transport means (airport, train, highway) make it a quickly accessible destination. All these attractions are enhanced by the fact that Annecy has preserved a pleasant living environment, quality of life, and closeness to nature.

Not convinced yet? Photos of Annecy and panoramas of the lake should finish convincing you…

So, see you soon in Annecy!

I’m Patrick, a mountain enthusiast who has lived in Haute-Savoie for over 20 years. As the creator and manager of this travel site dedicated to the region, I introduce you to places worth visiting in our beautiful department, along with unmissable tips and recommendations. I also share discoveries from further afield—such as Corsica, Italy, and the Arcachon Basin—based on my own travels. Having completed the state-certified mountain leader training course in the Pyrenees (back in 1996), I also aim to provide advice on how to enjoy the mountains safely and responsibly.
