Imagine yourself, perched several meters above the ground, ready to launch onto a winding track that snakes between fir trees and overlooks alpine meadows… La Clusaz is innovating with its brand new 4-season sled, an exciting attraction that promises 820 meters of thrilling descent, reaching speeds of up to 42 km/h, and a breathtaking view of the Aravis mountain range. Open almost all year round, this unique facility, nestled at the top of the village at Bossonnet, adds a touch of boldness to the already dynamic offer of the resort.
The adventure begins: a spectacular descent in the heart of the Aravis
From the moment you board, your heart races: 360 meters of ascent to savor the anticipation, then the adrenaline rises with each sharp turn and dizzying curve. Unlike traditional sleds, this one runs on an aerial monorail, providing an exhilarating sensation of instability and weightlessness. The route, suspended above the landscape, offers a breathtaking panorama, from the village of La Clusaz to the summit of Danay. The trees brushed past at full speed add to the magic, while respecting nature: the route was designed to minimize clearing, as emphasized by Thibault Francou, technical director of Satelc.
Practical information to enjoy the forest sled
This experience, called Forest Sled, is accessible from 3 years old (accompanied up to 1.45 meters) and free for children under 5. Open until April 26, it will reopen on May 14 to extend the enjoyment. Safety is paramount: magnetic brakes, anti-collision system, and automatic speed limitation guarantee a safe adventure, even for the most daring.
“The sensations are crazy”: immersion in the heart of the descent
What strikes you is the freedom to control your speed thanks to the handles, all while knowing the system ensures you never exceed 42 km/h nor get too close to the sledder ahead. The first lucky ones to test the descent agree: “The view is incredible,” “the sensations are crazy,” “you literally glide between the fir trees.” I myself felt this surge of adrenaline, this thrill mixed with pure joy, as the sled rushed at full speed, brushing branches and grass carpets, far from the more classic summer sled experience where you stay grounded. The only small downside: sometimes you have to adapt to the pace of the sledder ahead, which adds a touch of suspense to the adventure.

An investment for the future and the diversification of the resort
The creation of this spectacular sled represents an investment of 3 million euros, including the construction of a departure and arrival station equipped with a rooftop terrace to admire the landscape. This project is part of an ambitious diversification strategy led by Satelc and the municipality to strengthen the appeal of La Clusaz in all seasons. An educational trail dotted with wooden games will soon connect the two ski areas, inviting young and old to explore the mountain in a different way.
La Clusaz, a life-sized playground all year round
With 1.8 million overnight stays annually, including 800,000 off-ski, La Clusaz focuses on the development of varied activities: after the immersive cultural space and the giant swing, the 4-season sled adds to an already abundant offer. In total, 5 million euros have been invested to reinvent the domain throughout the seasons. And this is just the beginning: a giant zip line could soon connect the Étale and Aiguille massifs, while the municipality plans to renovate the aquatic center and create an indoor activity hub, which will host part of the Olympic Games logistics before becoming a space dedicated to leisure and sport.

Preserving the soul of the mountain, while looking to the future
While the resort opens up to new horizons, it does not forget its Alpine roots. Skiing remains at the heart of its identity, and several major projects are planned to secure and improve the slopes: modernization of snowmakers, adaptation of spaces for learning skiing and mountain biking, and replacement of the Col de Balme chairlift by a lift capable of transporting both skiers and pedestrians to the summit. A new panoramic building, topped with a rooftop offering views of Mont Blanc, will soon complement the offer, never betraying the authentic spirit of the mountain, as Mayor Didier Thévenet reminds us.
La Clusaz thus establishes itself as a bold destination, between preserved traditions and dizzying innovations. Ready to live an unforgettable adventure and feel the fresh mountain wind whipping your face? The 4-season sled awaits you for a descent that will remain etched in your memory.
