The official school holiday calendar 2026-2027 is now known. For winter sports enthusiasts, it is the perfect time to plan a trip to Haute-Savoie. Among the highly sought-after resorts such as Chamonix, La Clusaz, Les Gets, Avoriaz, or Le Grand-Bornand, booking several months in advance often allows you to enjoy the best accommodations and more advantageous rates.
What are the three school zones?
- Zone A: the academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, the institutions of the departments of Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Savoie, and Haute-Savoie, Limoges, Lyon, the institutions of the department of Ain, and Poitiers.
- Zone B: the academies of Aix-Marseille, institutions of the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, and Vaucluse, Amiens, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Normandy, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes, and Strasbourg.
- Zone C: the academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse, and Versailles.

As every year, winter holidays will be staggered over three zones to limit overcrowding in the resorts.
All Saints’ Day Holidays
- From Saturday, October 17 to Monday, November 2, 2026 (all zones)
Christmas Holidays
- From Saturday, December 19, 2026 to Monday, January 4, 2027 (all zones). The year-end holidays are the first peak for winter visitation in ski resorts.
Winter Holidays
The second peak in attendance is the winter holidays with this time a different schedule for the three zones. Traffic jams on the roads, fully booked resorts, waiting in line at ski lifts… This is probably the holiday period that requires the most planning… and patience!

- From Saturday, February 13 to Monday, March 1, 2027

Spring Holidays
Spring holidays are increasingly popular among winter sports enthusiasts. During this period, some ski areas remain accessible, some until early May. Temperatures are generally milder, sunshine is more generous, and trail usage decreases significantly.
