On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the Abbaye d’Aulps in Saint-Jean-d’Aulps is offering a new edition of L’Abbaye sous les étoiles, an event combining astronomy, heritage, and the discovery of the night sky. Between planetarium sessions and outdoor star gazing, this evening promises a unique experience for the whole family.
In the exceptional setting of the remains of the former Cistercian abbey, young and old alike will be able to look up at the sky and explore the constellations, planets, and wonders of the universe. The event will be led by Erwan Le Berre, from Cosmic Événements, an astronomy enthusiast and science mediation specialist.
Planetarium sessions throughout the day
Before nightfall, several immersive planetarium sessions will be offered to discover the secrets of the sky inside an inflatable dome.
The time slots are scheduled at: 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 8pm, 9pm.
These sessions take place by reservation only and allow exploration of the universe regardless of weather conditions.
Observe the summer sky in an exceptional setting
From 10pm until midnight, outdoor sky observation begins. Without reservation, visitors can enjoy a guided evening of star gazing, the Milky Way, constellations, and, depending on conditions, several celestial objects visible through the telescope.
The organizers invite participants to bring a blanket, a folding chair, or their own binoculars or telescope to fully enjoy the experience.
The Abbaye d’Aulps site, secluded from heavy light pollution, offers a particularly pleasant setting to contemplate the summer sky.
A friendly evening
To extend the evening, La Taverne La Croix Blanche will remain open especially for the event, offering food and refreshments on site.
Note that animals are not permitted during this event.
