Today we take you on a small hike that is not very complicated but still includes some slightly more delicate sections. However, it remains accessible to many and can notably be done with family.
A little reminder before departure: good shoes, trekking poles (they can help!), appropriate clothing, the backpack contains a picnic, sufficient water, first aid kit, jacket, hat, sunscreen, phone (even if the network is unavailable in some places, still have it with you).
To get there, we head towards the Cascade du Rouget which we never fail to admire once again, then we continue our ascent by car up to a small parking lot by a meadow. A route sign with the inscription “Fardelays” indicates the start of the hike. There is little space, so we advise you not to leave too late. Note that this hike is inaccessible during the winter season.

The first part could be nicknamed “the root hike”. We cross several sections where roots intertwine. It is pleasantly cool and this spectacle is truly beautiful. A photo maybe?

The hike includes rather flat sections with some climbs here and there. Nothing very difficult actually.

Furthermore, special attention should be paid to children who might approach the edges too easily. Indeed, some sections can be slippery, damp but with caution, the landscape is breathtaking.

We continue our walk. We take our time during the small climbs and admire the little huts on our path as well as the small streams here and there.
We arrive at the Cirque and Refuge des Fonts. It took us 2 hours. For us, the hike is a pleasure above all and we enjoy observing the nature around us.
The Cirque is a place somewhat out of time, a place that soothes. Lift your eyes and admire the landscape that surrounds you. It’s magnificent!

A picnic break is required. We settle near a small hut to eat. We enjoy this exceptional setting then treat ourselves to a blueberry tart at the Refuge des Fonts, “the ultimate dessert” of our mountains. Slight disappointment regarding the appearance of the tart. Just blueberries placed on a tart base. Moreover, the Refuge offers salads, charcuterie plates and a dessert made with fresh cheese from a neighboring producer garnished with blueberries. Enough to spend a pleasant moment.
It is possible to book accommodation on site to discover the area at night. Note that the Refuge is closed in winter.

Very nice hike.
