Sunday, August 17, 2025, will host the 47th edition of the Belle Dimanche at the Châtel resort, in Plaine Dranse.
Breaking news: Due to the health situation related to contagious nodular dermatitis in the department and to ensure the safety of cattle, this edition will take place without the traditional presence of Abondance breed cows.
Despite this exceptional absence, no other changes are expected: the outdoor mass, exhibitors, activities, and musical groups will all be there, to make this day a warm moment of sharing among residents, farmers, artisans, and vacationers.
This mountain pasture festival is one of the oldest in the Savoyard traditional heritage.
For the great pleasure of everyone, it honors shepherds and their flocks as well as traditional crafts.

The festival will begin with a mass celebrated outdoors with the blessing of the Belle Dimanche bread from the bakery Les Fournils du Lac.
Throughout the day, you can stroll among the various stands where diverse artisans present their works: paintings and wood sculptures, bell founders, natural and handmade products, decorative objects, pottery, jewelry, etc.
The associations of Châtel will also offer games, activities, as well as refreshment stands where you can eat and drink.
The musical entertainment will be provided by several local groups performing at different locations throughout the day: folk groups, Alpine horns, brass bands, and much more:
- Cocktail des Montagnes
- Funky Brass
- Écho Alpin
- Les Mercenaires du Val d’Illiez
- Bandastico
- Les Vioul’ du Chablais
- Les Bedzuts

And for those who would like to take home a small souvenir featuring the festival, a shop awaits you at the Welcome – Information point.
Access to the festival will be either on foot, by chairlift, or shuttle, and of course free of charge. Cars are strictly prohibited. Throughout the day, free shuttles will run the route from the village to Pré la Joux, then from Pré la Joux to Plaine-Dranse, from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm. The Pierre Longue chairlift operates from 8 am to 5:30 pm.
