The waterfall trail – Flaine – Sixt

The waterfalls run or the joy of skiing 14 kilometers downhill, right in the heart of a nature reserve, without the constraint of ski lifts…

Come discover the “Combe de Gers“, in the heart of the Grand Massif, a secured area entirely dedicated to off-piste skiing. 800 m of altitude difference facing north, powder snow up to the knees and as far as the eye can see.

However, good physical condition and a high technical level are the required conditions to enjoy this little gem.

Access this area from the summit of the Grandes Platières at the top of Flaine.

This blue run, 14 kilometers long, connects the Flaine resort and Sixt Fer à Cheval over a total altitude difference of 1,700 meters. At the same time, this connects the 5 resorts of the Grand Massif. The originality and fundamental asset of this run obviously lie in the fact that the skier can ski the route without ever needing to take a ski lift.

In addition to the pleasure of unconstrained skiing, this run is above all a true breath of fresh air and nature. In one stroke of the ski, you descend from the summit of the Grandes Platières to the shores of the Giffre, admiring in turn His Majesty Mont Blanc, the Désert de Platé, Lake Gers, Tenneverge, Ruan, and a multitude of frozen waterfalls. Keep your eyes wide open…

The location, situated right in the heart of the nature reserve, abounds with diverse wildlife: chamois, eagles, lammergeiers and other ibex watch you from afar, it’s up to you to spot them! Arriving at the bottom of the waterfalls run, a bus takes you back to Samoëns.
