The ski season is approaching: preparation for a successful season

The ski season is approaching, it is high time to prepare yourself to be at your best for your first runs. We offer you a little reminder of useful preparations before a successful ski season.

Equipment preparation : maintaining ski equipment is generally quite limited, but a minimum of tasks must be done. If you have stored your ski equipment in good conditions, a simple waxing / sharpening should be enough. We recommend going through a professional, the cost is not that high and the quality of the work (usually) much better.
We had made available to you an explanatory sheet on ski waxing, as well as a sheet on ski binding adjustment.

Skier preparation : this is probably the main point to properly approach the first downhill ski runs. Good physical preparation of the thighs, knees, hips through some well-chosen exercises, as well as cardio-respiratory preparation, is essential.
A few simple exercises will easily allow you to improve your physical condition before your ski season.

Cardio-respiratory preparation : jogging, walking, cycling, treadmill. Whatever exercise you choose, it is important to practice it at least 30 minutes three times a week. A very complete exercise is running up stairs, skipping a step each time. Beneficial for breathing and leg muscles.

Muscular preparation : the important areas to strengthen are: the abdominal belt, the back and shoulders, and of course the lower limbs.
We refer you to a previous article that provided a series of exercises adapted to the physical preparation of the skier.
