The garden of the five senses: a garden of poetry and dreams

On the shore of Lake Geneva is a small medieval village called Yvoire at the heart of which is located “the labyrinth, garden of the five senses”.

This garden is made up of several “green rooms”. It is a privileged place, which leads us to the discovery of nature, to calm and meditation, to dreams. It is advised to allow at least 1 hour to be able to visit and discover the garden. Visitors are welcomed with some explanations (garden visit map), a video is also available for a more complete presentation. A small questionnaire will be given to children who can learn and discover nature while having fun.

The garden is divided into 9 parts. Through these, one discovers mountain plants and flowers (alpine square), a viewpoint on the castle (underwood), a plant checkerboard (weaving), four small gardens that introduce us to a place of meditation and poetry with medicinal and aromatic plants (the cloister). Small gardens for awakening the senses. Taste (vegetables, fruits, edible flowers), smell or scents (various plants to discover, scents perceptible by rubbing the foliage…), touch or textures (plants chosen for their foliage: rough, soft velvety…), sight or colors (varying depending on the seasons from pale blue to purple…) and hearing (represented by the song of birds and water). Moreover, throughout the visit, you will also discover ponds and aviaries as well as fruit trees.

We visited this garden at the very beginning of May and the flora was there.
