Haute-Savoie Potato Fritters: A Delicious Mountain Specialty

Potato fritters are a traditional specialty from Haute-Savoie, often prepared in mountain households and appreciated for their simplicity and comforting flavor. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these fritters are perfect to accompany a meal or be enjoyed alone as a snack.

The recipe is based on grated potatoes, mixed with flour, eggs, and often a bit of garlic and parsley to enhance the taste. The mixture is then shaped into small patties and fried in hot oil until reaching a golden and crispy texture. The fritters are served hot, offering a blend of melting textures inside and slightly crunchy on the outside.

These fritters are particularly popular during local festivals and are often associated with convivial moments. They can be enjoyed alone or accompanied by a green salad, and pair very well with a charcuterie board or other Savoyard specialties such as fondue or raclette.

Potato fritters perfectly represent the rustic and generous cuisine of Haute-Savoie, where simple and local products are enhanced to create flavorful and authentic dishes.
