An original idea for a walk during your next holidays in Haute Savoie, the ascent to the Col de la Voza or Bellevue by the Mont-Blanc Tramway, one of the last rack railways in the high altitude of France.
You will enjoy a panoramic view of the Bionnassaz glacier, the valleys of Chamonix and Les Contamines, and the ski area of Saint Gervais / Les Houches. And all this at the end of a retro trip into the heart of snowy nature, forests, corridors… on a mountain rack railway train.

The journey :
- From Fayet (584m) or Saint Gervais (792m) to the Col de la Voza (1653m): after a stop at the village of Motivon (1400m, stop for the village residents, accessible only by the Mont-Blanc Tramway in winter), the train travels through forest and emerges at the Col de la Voza after 45 minutes of travel. From there, enjoy the view of the Bionnassay glacier and the Goûter Needle.
- From the Col de la Voza to Bellevue (1794m): The Mont-Blanc Tramway runs along the mountain ridge offering a 360° view of the Contamines valley, the Goûter Needle, the Aiguilles Rouges massif, and the Aiguille du Midi.
- In summer, the Mont-Blanc Tramway continues its ascent towards the Nid d’Aigle (2380m), the starting point for the ascent of Mont-Blanc.
Practical information :
- Duration of the journey: 1 hour
- Length of the route: 9.1 km up to Bellevue
- Schedule: the train operates daily from mid-December to mid-April but the schedules may vary depending on snow conditions.
